Trinity Catholic Academy Board of Trustees Honor
Stonehill College PresidentOn October 8, 2009, the Thomas F. and Mary J. Shields Science Center at Stonehill College was the setting for Trinity Catholic Academy's second annual Thomas F. and Mary J. Shields Founders Award Donor Reception. Tom Shields, a major benefactor to Trinity Catholic Academy and board member of the Campaign for Catholic Schools, presented Stonehill College President, Father Mark Cregan, CSC, the Shields Founders Award. The award is given for outstanding and exemplary service to Trinity Catholic Academy. Since the opening of Trinity in 2007, Father Cregan and Stonehill College have partnered with Trinity for professional development, faith formation, and most recently, an outdoor classroom program.
Mr. Shields thanked Father Cregan for all he has done and continues to do for Trinity Catholic Academy, and acknowledged that he has been an integral part of the success of the school.
Manthala George, Jr. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Trinity Catholic Academy, applauded Father Cregan and all he has done to help Trinity. "The support Stonehill has given and continues to give to Trinity Catholic Academy is immeasurable, and we are forever grateful for all Father Cregan has extended to our school."
The evening was exciting for all who attended including the 71 students in the TCA band and choir led by music teachers Angelo Morlani and Brian Montgomery, whose performance so moved Campaign for Catholic Schools Chairman Jack Connors, Jr. that he announced that he was giving every TCA student present a $500 scholarship.
Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley closed the evening thanking Father Cregan and Stonehill for his contributions to Catholic education and Trinity Catholic Academy.
